Custom Two-Tone Pink Cherry Blossom Tree for a Nail Salon in Santa Ana

Project Overview

A nail salon owner in Santa Ana, California, wanted to bring a touch of Japanese spring into her shop—without the maintenance of real blossoms. She needed a custom artificial cherry blossom tree that would fill the space above her clients’ heads while still allowing people to walk underneath.

The Brief

The client had three key requirements:

  • Two-tone pink blossoms — she wanted a mix of two different pink shades to create depth and a more natural, layered look.
  • Ceiling-to-floor height — the ceiling was only 3 meters high, and clients needed to walk beneath the tree without feeling cramped.
  • Realistic trunk texture — when customers sat close to the tree, the trunk needed to look and feel like real wood, not plastic.

Challenges

Three challenges shaped this project:

  1. Extremely tight vertical space — with only 3 meters of clearance, the tree’s canopy had to spread horizontally rather than grow upward, creating the illusion of a tree that “grows” across the ceiling.
  2. Blending two pink shades naturally — simply mixing two colors of blossoms would look artificial. Each branch had to be individually arranged so the two pinks transitioned smoothly, like a real cherry tree in bloom.
  3. Trunk realism at close range — nail salon clients sit just inches from the tree. Any plastic-looking trunk would ruin the romantic atmosphere.

Our Solution

Every tree is made-to-order, with bespoke sizing and hand-sorted blossoms.

Hand-sculpted trunk of a custom artificial cherry blossom tree

Hand-sculpted trunk: Our senior craftsman hand-sculpted the trunk using real wood and fiberglass, matching the texture of natural cherry bark. Even up close, the grain and knots are convincing.

Horizontal canopy design: Instead of forcing the tree upward, we trained the branches to spread across the ceiling, creating a canopy that feels expansive without taking up floor space. Clients can walk underneath without ducking.

Two-tone blossom arrangement: Our team sorted the blossoms by shade and inserted them branch by branch, ensuring the two pinks blended gradually—lighter near the edges, deeper toward the center. This created the layered, romantic look the client wanted.

Smooth delivery: The tree was shipped by sea and delivered by a truck with a lift gate, making unloading easy and damage-free.

The Result

The client was delighted with the final tree and its romantic atmosphere. The final look was elegant and upscale, creating the romantic atmosphere she wanted. She later ordered a second custom tree with even more premium blossoms, produced based on her on-site dimensions.
