A private villa owner in Los Angeles needed artificial olive trees for two outdoor areas: the main entrance and the poolside. The project required custom dimensions and outdoor-ready materials for a residential setting.
The client provided reference images and specific dimensions:
All six trees would be installed outdoors, exposed to direct sunlight and normal outdoor conditions.
Challenges
Three points shaped this project:
Custom manufacturing: Our team worked with the factory to match the client’s reference images and exact dimensions. Each tree was hand-built to spec, with attention to trunk texture, branch structure, and foliage density.
UV-resistant materials: We used UV-stabilized foliage to help slow down fading under direct sunlight. The olive leaf color was matched to the client’s reference for a natural Mediterranean look. As with any outdoor product, some color change over time is normal.
Installation reinforcement: For outdoor use, we recommended anchoring the base to a concrete foundation reinforced with steel rebar. For the tree assembly, we added screws at each connection point—an extra step compared to indoor trees, where branches simply slot into place. This makes the tree more stable in its outdoor position.
Shipping and delivery: The trees were shipped by sea and delivered by truck to the client’s villa. Because of the large size and weight of each tree, the client arranged a forklift and crew for unloading.
The client was satisfied with the six trees and later ordered four additional UV-resistant cypress trees for installation along the villa’s exterior wall.
